Write-back capabilities

Ramya Priya Updated by Ramya Priya

Tellius offers write-back capabilities, a tool for interactive data analytics, promoting efficient workflows and enhanced collaboration. This allows you to not only view and analyze data but also make modifications or input data directly within the platform. These changes can be saved back to the source system, making Tellius a dynamic tool for data interaction.

Handle with cautious care since the changes you make will be directly updated in the original data source. Also, verify that you have the appropriate permissions to make these modifications.

Benefits of write-back

The write-back capabilities offer numerous benefits:

  • Real-time updates: With write-back, any changes you make are updated in real-time, ensuring all users are working with the most current data.
  • Increased efficiency: Eliminate the need for switching between applications to make data updates. Write-back allows you to edit directly within the platform.
  • Enhanced collaboration: Team members can add or update records directly within the platform, fostering effective team collaboration.

How to write-back

  1. Navigate Data --> Prepare --> Data and click on the Export icon.
  1. The following are the type of data sources we have write-back capabilities to:
    • CSV
    • HDFS
    • Snowflake
    • MySQL
    • Redshift
  2. Choose the required data source from the list. The following screen appears.
  1. Provide the table name in the Table you want to write to field.
  2. If you want to write-back data from all the columns, click on All Columns checkbox. If you want to write-back from only selected columns, click on the checkbox above the required column.
  3. Once you select the required columns, the buttons in the bottom Append and Overwrite get enabled.
  4. Click on Append to add new data to the existing dataset without altering the existing records. For example, if you have a list of customers and you want to add more without changing the existing customers' details, use the append operation.
  5. Click on Overwrite to completely replace the existing data with the new data. Here, the existing records get erased. For example, if you have an outdated list of customers and you have a new list, you might choose to overwrite the old list with the new one.
  6. The table will be updated and a message will be displayed informing the refresh of the dataset.
